The President of the World Gastroenterology Organisation (WGO) is responsible for the proper functioning of WGO and is empowered to undertake the necessary actions with the knowledge of the Governing Council. The President presides at all meetings of the Governing Council and at business sessions of the WGO.
In 2009, the position of the President term changed to one, two-year term of office, which begins after the approval of the General Assembly. Prior to 2009, the term was limited to two, four-year terms of office.
